Job Description

Overview: We are seeking a mid-level Litigation Attorney to join our client’s Life Sciences team at their new Jersey office. 

Role Overview and Core Responsibilities:

  • Review and negotiate contracts between pharmacies or Pharmacy Services Administrative Organizations (PSAOs) and Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs)
  • Analyze drug benefit reimbursement rates and PBM network/plan terms
  • Review, analyze, and index complex contracts in healthcare and life sciences setting
  • Communicate with clients regarding factual investigations, case strategy, and matter status, including written analyses and status updates
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and written discovery, including objections and responses
  • Preparing deposition outlines and deposition exhibits
  • Conducting and defending depositions of witnesses
  • Prepare witness examinations, outlines, and exhibits for trials and hearings in court, arbitration, and before administrative agencies
  • Argue motions and appear for hearings
  • Appearing in court/arbitration for scheduling conferences and status conferences
  • Interface with state boards and administrative agencies on regulatory and enforcement matters
  • Developing strategies, drafting mediations statements, and appearing for mediations and settlement conferences
  • Second-chair trials and final hearings in arbitration

Requirements:

  • 3–6 years of experience in healthcare or life sciences contracting and/or litigation, with direct PSAO and PBM experience strongly preferred (PSAO experience required for candidates at the lower end of the range)
  • Admitted to practice in at least one US state
  • Demonstrated experience performing the responsibilities outlined above
  • Exceptional legal writing, oral advocacy, and research skills
  • Strong listener and communicator
  • Team-player mindset, and ability to work cohesively and collaboratively with a team of attorneys
  • High degree of professional judgment and ownership
