Job Description

Schedule: 25- 35 hours per week (sometimes more); flexible schedule once training is complete

Type: Hybrid with a weekly in-person requirement of at least 2 full days.

We are seeking a responsible, reliable, and proactive Administrative Assistant to support the daily operations of an LA-based shul.  

In this role, you will assist our community members, board president, and Rabbi with a variety of  administrative and clerical responsibilities. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Perform light bookkeeping, including accounts receivable/payable (AR/AP)
• Maintain and organize both digital and physical filing systems 

• Keep member contact lists current and accurate 

• Coordinate logistics and communication for shul events and programs
• Plan, coordinate, and order weekly Kiddush meals for Shabbat services
• Compile and distribute a weekly bulletin 

• Handle day-to-day administrative needs as they arise 

Preferred Skills & Qualifications: 

• Proven experience in an administrative or office assistant role 

• Familiarity with office management systems and procedures 

• Competence with office equipment (e.g., printers, copiers, scanners) 

• Experience with QuickBooks (preferred but not required) 

• Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) 

• Comfortable using Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.) 

• Familiarity with Canva and Mailchimp is a plus 

• Excellent time management and organizational skills 

• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities 

• Clear written and verbal communication 

• Customer service mindset and ability to work well with diverse groups • Creativity and initiative are highly valued 

• High school diploma required
